Erling Haaland collided with his Manchester City teammate due to a poor start to the 2025/26 Premier League ahead of his clash with Manchester United. City lost two of their first three games and is currently 13th in the top flight rankings.

Last time they wereted the lead in Brighton and lost 2-1 after falling to a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola’s team began the season with a 4-0 thrashing for the Wolves, but they never did.

After the first international break of the season, Haaland labeled the start of the season as “not enough.” This week, City faces United in the first Manchester Derby of the season, looking to seek revenge from last season’s defeat.

“We lost two games in a row, but that’s not enough. It’s too bad,” he told Viaplay. “We need to get it and go back to how to win.

“There are so many good teams, so we can’t afford to lose a game, and it’s great to turn things around against United.

“We all need to do our best and move on ourselves. (We) need to move on things because it’s not enough so far. Losing isn’t cool. It’s annoying. We need to use it for something positive.

“As a motivation to make the next game even better, and we hope we are. We need to use our inner rage on the pitch and deliver at the highest level.”

Guardiola also acknowledges his difficult start to the campaign – claiming that he cannot afford to expect previous successes to be repeated. “I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Catalonia said.

“We know that the outcome determines all positions for the team, so we have to create a good season for that, and we don’t stay here when we feel like the club needs a chance, but now we feel we want to do it more than ever after last season and after that moment.

“I’m in front of everything in the club, I’m trying to get my shoulders bigger and bigger, keep the weight of the situation going and do it with the players. I’m not here because I’ve done it in the past.”
