Liverpool blew away their rivals last season to score 10 points for the Premier League title, but this time Arne Slot’s side should face stiffer competition
Liverpool is a clear favorite for holding the Premier League title this season, but new research shows they have three rivals for the Crown.
Arne Slot won the 2024/25 title and scored 10 points from Arsenal, giving the Reds boss and his team a perfect start this season. Liverpool sat at the top of the Premier League table after three games and scored nine points, beating Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal.
They needed a slow target to see the cherry and magpie before the stunning Dominique Soboschlei Free Kick defeated the gunner. Liverpool strengthened their team by spending £450 million on the summer transfer window, along with Alexander Isaac, Florian Wiltz and Hugo Ekicchike’s headlines on the offensive.
According to the CEIS Football Observatory, that spending helped strengthen its title favourite position. The study calculates probability by taking into account variables including performance data and transfers, highlighting how competitive the Premier League is this season.

That’s because Arsenal is given an 18.8% chance to win the title. This time there could be a race with four horses. This is in stark contrast to other top European divisions.
Paris Saint-Germain, for example, has a 73% chance of winning Ligue 1, while Bayern Munich (61.4%) and Real Madrid (40.6%) are a ton of favorites in the Bundesliga and La Liga, respectively.
Interestingly, Nottingham Forest is rated as the fifth scent of a 7.9% Premier League title ahead of Newcastle (5.8%), Aston Villa (3.2%) and Manchester United (2.6%).

The slots are not sure if it will be clear for Liverpool. “The reason it’s so hard to hold a title is mainly in the fact that there are so many competitors who can win the league here,” he said before the campaign began in August.
“Winning it is already very special, if you can win twice in three, four, five years, then twice in five years, and (Manchester) city has done even better than we have in the past few years.
“If we can do this in this league, it’s incredible, and perhaps this year, it’s more difficult every year, as all teams bring new players, but our main competitors have definitely done it.”
We were asked if Diogo Jota’s death and the rise around the club will become even more difficult this year. Slot added:
“It’s impossible to answer right now because we don’t know the challenges in front of us and how difficult it is for us or another team to win the league.”
