Following the £40 million move from Manchester United to Chelsea, Alejandro Garnacho has plenty to prove after his escape with manager and criticism from former players

Alejandro Garnacho is about to kick his Chelsea career following his move from Manchester United. The 21-year-old Old Trafford exit has been on the card ever since Winger expressed his dissatisfaction with his final defeat in the Europa League in May to Tottenham Hotspur on the bench.

Head coach Reuben Amorim became unfriendly to it, and Garnacho expressed his desire to leave preseason training, leaving United’s first team. Chelsea completed the long-term Argentine International signing for £40 million with the Red Devils inserting a 10% sell-on clause.

Garnacho also had a tense relationship with Amorim’s predecessor, Eric Ten Hag, and once liked negative social media posts about the Dutch. Few people doubt his abilities, but there are questions about his attitude. Enzo Maresca hopes to iron. Here’s a summary of what managers, teammates and critics said about the mysterious Argentina…

Amorim’s public putdown

As Amorim came with Garnacho, he reportedly told him he was leaving the club in front of his teammates. Before the final league match of the season – before the explosion about Ghanacho being left on the bench for the Europa League final – his boss told him during a training session: “You hope you have a good agent this summer,” Athletic reported.

By that point, the dye had already been cast into his united career. Garnacho was fishing to get away from the club. The relationship between the head coach and the player got worse when Garnacho spoke to the media after a devastating loss to the Spurs in Bilbao.

“We didn’t have a lot of stuff. When you’re not scoring goals, you always need more. I played 20 minutes today until I reached the final.

Called by Fernandez

United captain Bruno Fernandez has once given a less complicated verdict on Garnacho’s attitude after scoring the winning goal in a 2022 Europa League match against Real Sociedaddo.

Fernandez told BT Sports:

“On the tour (preseason) he didn’t have the best attitude, so he’s not getting a chance until now. He’s getting a chance because he’s training better.

Given that it has been unfolding ever since, it turns out to be a false dawn. Fernandez did his best to cultivate the obvious natural talent that Ghanacho has, but in the end his plea for professionalism fell into deaf ears.

Carragher’s phone rants

Sky Sports expert Jamie Carrager raised Garnacho as he denounced the modern game aspect that he “can’t stand it.” It had nothing to do with his transfers or performance on the pitch, but instead had nothing to do with his phone use.

After sealing off his move to Stamford Bridge, Garnacho saw a home conflict with Fulham in the stand and found him scrolling on his phone just eight minutes into the game.

Carragher complained:

“I can’t stand it. And it’s not just him by the way, but I can’t stand it. So I’m missing it. Sit on his phone during Chelsea’s important game.”

“Disrespectful” claim

Former United defender Paul Parker pulled a punch when he came to Garnacho after Chelsea’s transfer, calling his act “disrespectful.” The former England fullback told MyBettingsites:

“All he wanted to do was score goals and get near misses so he could act like Ronaldo. Now he’s going to a club with more ego. He either alienates himself or fights there.

“United fans supported him as he was going through things on and off the field. His brothers were tweeting things, they supported him and he said nothing.

Garnacho is trying to prove his critics wrong and ignore the public’s perception of his behind-the-scenes actions as he embarks on a fresh start at Stamford Bridge.
