The Champions League will be back next week. Organizer UEFA has lately changed to squad rules that could become music to the ears of stars that are often overlooked
UEFA made late changes to European competition team rules within the week of the start of the Champions League.
The Continental Premier Competition will begin next week, with six English clubs participating in the Champions League recorded.
Highlights of the first Match Week include Chelsea travelling to face Harry Kane and Bayern Munich, the Premier League champions and current leader Liverpool playing Atletico Madrid and Newcastle welcome Barcelona to St James Park.
And all of these clubs, along with fellow Champions League trio Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham, Europa League qualifiers, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Conference League candidate Crystal Palace, can make changes to teams submitted during the group phase.

In a statement Thursday, UEFA said: “The Executive Committee has approved amendments to regulations for the 2025/26 UEFA Men’s Club Competition, allowing temporary replacement of up to one outfield player with long-term injury or illness at the league stage until Match Day 6 is included.
“The reason for adaptation is to ensure that squad lists are not unfairly reduced and that players are protected from additional workload pressures.”
Matchday 6 is the final match of the first Conference League League phase, with the Champions League and Europa League playing matchdays 7 and 8 of the New Year League Phase.
What constitutes “long-term injury or illness” is not yet clear, but Chelsea may be able to replace Liam Dellup with a Champions League squad after being sidelined with a hamstring injury. After being disappointed that he was ruled out, a new signature could be his replacement for Facundo Buononotte.
Other well-known players who missed out on their side of the Champions League team were Liverpool forward Federi Cochiesa, Tottenham striker Mattistel and Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus, who had been injured by Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.
UEFA has also announced that Atletico Madrid’s Wander Tropolitano Stadium will host the 2027 Champions League Final. In 2019, Liverpool announced they defeated Tottenham 2-0, beating the events of the All-Premier League 2-0.
The National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland, will host the Women’s Champions League final in the same year.
