Florian Wirtz could cost Liverpool an extra £16 million, but the Reds are very pleased to pay it.
German International Wurtz became one of the arrivals of headlines to the Premier League this summer. He joined Bayer Leverkusen’s Reds at the first £100 million, which could rise to £116 million on add-ons.
Wirtz has not yet hit the ground he was running in England. The reality champions face a tough opening of the season with a match against Bournemouth, Champions League qualifiers Newcastle United and runner-up Arsenal last season.
Despite this, Liverpool won all three matches, and Wirtz is lined up to start again when they go to Burnley after an international break.
Prior to that game, a Times report states that if Warts wins four times at Anfield, Liverpool is very clear that he wants to achieve, if Warts wins four times in either the Premier League or the Champions League, these additional £16 million add-ons will be paid in full to Leverkusen.

Wirtz has yet to score a mark for Liverpool, but he won a stunning German free kick in a 3-1 victory over New Reds teammate Conor Bradley’s Northern Ireland on Sunday night. After that game, Wirtz admitted that playing in the Premier League was a challenge.
“It’s a different league, another type of football. I’m happy to be there,” Wirtz said. “When you score your first goal, hopefully you won’t know in the next game, but at some point it will come.”
Meanwhile, German legend Michael Barack says that Wortz’s move from the Bundesliga to the Premier League and forward Nick Urtemaid’s move from Stuttgart to Newcastle should be considered a concern for German football, but he supports taking the more traditional route to Bayern Munich.
“Had (Wirtz) and his development made sense to play another two or three years in the Bundesliga with Bayern?” Barrack told Sportsbuild. “Of course he’ll win the championship there.
“But is the Bundesliga the ultimate challenge for him at the highest level? No, because the Bundesliga was left behind in the Premier League a few years ago.
“That’s the reality. That’s why it’s not appealing to the absolute top players in general, either. That’s why it needs to be changed.”
