One of the biggest nights in Grimsby Town’s history plunged into doubt after they dispatched unqualified players. Grimsby faced Premier League Giants Manchester United in the second round of the Carabao Cup last month.

To all the watching surprises, the Mariners secured a 12-11 victory on Reuben Amorim’s penalty against the Red Devils, losing a 2-0 lead in the second half. Scenes of invasion and total joy continued – but two sides of the league admitted a major failure to play Clark O’Dour.

Grimsby reported their own mistakes, saying it was an administrative error. Oduor actually wanted Minnow to be expelled from the tournament, or at least a replay would take place, despite missing the penalty in the shootout.

However, neither is considered and instead the club will be fined £20,000 by the EFL. They may think they are lucky themselves. We are now looking at rare examples of past games played in controversial circumstances.

Charlton Athletic vs Doncaster Rover

Charlton’s clash with Doncaster in the valley in August 2013 was controversial at halftime due to the water level pitch, despite the Rovers leading 3-1. Heavy rain made kickoff conditions difficult, and referee Lee Collins was first stopped playing 26 minutes later.

They resumed, but Collins saw the conditions unsafe at the break, and Doncaster boss Paul Dickoff called the way the game abandoned “Shambolic.” To add even more insult to the injury, the November rematch began with a score of 0-0, with Charlton winning that game 2-0.

Arsenal vs Sheffield United

In February 1999, Sheffield United faced Arsenal in the fifth round of Highbury’s FA Cup, with a 1-1 match following a goal from Patrick Vieira and a blade equalizer from Marcelo, causing the game to be in chaos. United goalkeeper Alan Kelly kicked the ball out of play for a throw-in to allow injured teammate Lee Morris to get treatment.

The away side thought Arsenal would return the ball to them after a restart. This is something Ray Parler was trying to do, but debutant Nwanko Kanu had other plans. The Nigerian striker returned the pass to the blade and set up the Mark Over Mars to lead.

It sparked anger on Steve Bruce’s side, and he ordered the players to leave the pitch in protest. Gunner saw the victory, but the injustice was furious and manager Arsene Wenger offered United a rematch. Arsenal got a recurring fixture courtesy of the goals of the Overmars and Dennis Bergkamp.

Senegal vs South Africa

On November 10, 2017, Senegal competed in the 2018 World Cup to beat South Africa 2-0, and to the 2018 World Cup by eliminating Bafana Bafana. However, the game was just a replay of the original November 2016 fixture that South Africa won 2-1.

The result was later choke taken away by FIFA after Ghanaian judge Joseph Lampey was found guilty of manipulating the outcome. Lampti had given a penalty for nonexistent handball against Senegale defender Karido Coolively.

South Africa won a penalty and qualifying. FIFA has found that Rampti was guilty of violating rules related to “unlawfully affecting the outcome of a match.”

The governing body also concluded that Ramputi was blamed on South Africa’s second goal just two minutes later, saying the Ghanaians “evidently made two wrong decisions and South Africa scored two goals.”

They added: As a result, he was banned for life.
