Martin Keeun jumped on Arsenal’s defense and called Peter Schmeichel “confusing” by claiming that the gunners were playing “ugh” style football as they wanted to lose at Liverpool.

The gunners were a big boost in the Premier League, finishing second for three years in the Trot under Mikel Arteta. The Spaniards have overseen their rise, but recently they have been playing criticism of the way they play, especially against their rivals.

It was highlighted again as they lost 1-0 at Anfield before the international break. Arsenal has become a set piece specialist, but they have been accused of relying on them, and their ability to defeat teams from open play suffers.

Schmeichel argued that Arsenal’s tactics meant he was desperate to win, and that he branded Arteta’s side play as “annoying” and “ugh.” He argued that it was “designed to misuse the enemy’s mistakes while waiting for the set.”

Keown accepts that the way Arsenal approaches the game requires evolution, but has returned to Dane for comments on the people of North London.

He told Talksport: “We want more. Arsenal now feels that it’s a mentality change, they need to change gears, they really have to chase it. You really need to have Tiger’s eyes to win these games.

“I don’t know if it was calm in the media. I was listening to some people. Sometimes these former players like Peter Schmeichel said that Arsenal would bring something ‘ugh’ to the Premier League.

Arsenal scored 17 fewer goals last season than Liverpool, but moved to deal with the summer this summer by using the likes of Viktor Gyoker, Eberechi Eze and Noni Maduke. They enhance their attacks as they appear to be more effective from open play.

Gary Neville said after his defeat at Liverpool, “They look comfortable in the big game, but at this point they don’t have the risk in the game and they don’t have the courage to think they can win.”

Arsenal unleashed Leeds and hit the newly promoted outfit five times, but in their opening day victory at Manchester United, they were a goal from the corner they won for them before creating a strong defensive display.
