Chelsea has been charged with 74 regulations violations by the Football Association.

Fees occurred between 2009 and 2022, and are concentrated on agent regulations, working with intermediaries and third-party investments.

“The Football Association today accused Chelsea FC of the FA Football Agent Regulations against J1 and C2 regulations, regulations A2 and A3 of FA regulations regarding cooperation with intermediaries, and regulations A1 and B3 of third-party investment in player regulations,” reads the statement.

“In total, 74 claims have been filed against Chelsea FC. The acts subject to the claim range from 2009 to 2022 and are primarily related to events that occurred between the 2010/11 and 2015/16 season.”

The period in question is related when Rome Abramovich was the owner.

Chelsea was given to respond until September 19th, but has already issued a statement.

“Chelsea FC is pleased to confirm that it is currently reaching conclusions with the FA on issues self-reported by the club,” the statement said.

“The Club Ownership Group completed the club purchase on May 30, 2022. During the thorough due diligence process prior to completion of the purchase, the Ownership Group recognized potentially incomplete financial reports regarding historical transactions and other potential violations of the FA regulations.

“As soon as the purchase was completed, the club self-reported these issues to all relevant regulators, including the FA.

“The club has demonstrated unprecedented transparency during this process, providing comprehensive access to club files and historical data. We will continue to work with the FA to conclude this issue as quickly as possible.

“We want to document our gratitude to the FA for our involvement with the club in this complicated case. The focus was on issues that happened over a decade ago.”

Abramovich took over in 2003 when he bought the club at Stamford Bridge for £140 million. His arrival changed his fortune on the pitch as Chelsea enjoyed incredible domestic and European success.

Under his ownership, Chelsea won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and lifted the UEFA Champions League twice.

Abramovich was then forced to sell the club in May 2022 and was purchased by a consortium led by Todd Boley.

Chelsea has been fined by UEFA in the past. They were forced to pay £8.6 million to submit “incomplete financial information” between 2012 and 2019, but were hit by £26.7 million sanctions earlier this year for violating financial rules related to the wage bill.
