Crystal Palace captain Mark Guech saw the deadline move to Liverpool’s collapse last week – and become a free agent at the end of this season
Liverpool is not planning to bid on him in January as Mark Guech wants to be a Liverpool player.
The Premier League champions linked up with Crystal Palace skippers for most of the summer windows, and a deal to sign him seemed inevitable. The speeches up to the deadline rose to the deadline, and Guehi agreed to the personal terms and completed the medical care.
However, despite the palace initially lit the £305 million exit with greenery, the plug was pulled in the 11th hour, causing players and Liverpool to be irritated. It is understood that Oliver Glasner, the influential palace boss, threatens to quit if the exit is confirmed, and that owner Steve Parish has no choice but to block the deal.
Guehi is said to be extremely disappointed that no movement occurred as he continued to commit to the club throughout SAGA. He also does not intend to extend his contract to see him become a free agent next summer.
In that case, the palace will attempt to recover some funds for their amulet defenders in January to try and design an exit. Liverpool was expected to return with a new bid in early 2026, but now it is suggested that they will spend their time.

Telegraph reports that Anfield’s boss had asserted that he would sign him for £35 million this summer, or for free in 12 months. Clutches from other clubs, including Premier League rival Manchester City, have also linked his signature.
However, the Reds believe that interest from rival clubs is being drummed to call Liverpool’s bluff and force the January offer.
The English defender will also be able to talk to clubs overseas about their pre-contract agreements from the beginning of next year. However, Liverpool believes Guehi is determined to move to Merseyside.
Guehi, 25, is hoping that he will be Liverpool’s best defensive target next summer, with Ibrahima Konate closing his contract and Joe Gomez moving forward. Gomez also saw the deadline move to Milan, but is now considered an important part of Arne Slot’s team fighting across multiple fronts.
Konate is even further ahead in the pecking order, but his future is uncertain. Like Guehi, he is scheduled to become a free agent next summer and despite talks about renewal, there has not been a deal.
Guehi has not yet returned to the palace after the deadline saga. He began his victory over Andorra at Villa Park, but only after three Lions boss Thomas Tushel discussed his state of mind.
Tuchel said: “We chatted with him. He looks absolutely thrilled. He’s very impressive on the field. He’s the main driver of the palace success, captain and leader. He continues this at camp.
Guehi was suspicious of Wednesday night’s clash with Serbia in Belgrade, but now appears to be involved in the toughest Tests ahead of next summer’s tournament.
