Former Premier League referee David Koote has been accused of making indecent videos of children.
The 43-year-old is scheduled to appear in court for the Nottinghamshire Magistrate on Thursday, Nottinghamshire Live Report.
The accused was accused of creating one obscene video of a Category A child on January 2, 2020 by Newark. This is the most serious category, usually indicating that young children are raped or sexually abused by adults.
Coote was fired last December by professional Gamematch Official Ltd (PGMOL) after the video was distributed on social media in July 2020, when he made some lightly comments about former Liverpool manager Klopp.
One of these statements refers to Klopp’s nationality and said the FA is suspected of being “augmented violation” under the rules. The FA said Coote would not face any further action regarding separate allegations of gambling misconduct that he vehemently denied. The FA said these allegations had been fully investigated.
When confirming his departure last December, PGMOL said Coote’s position had become “unacceptable” after the video being expended.
The coot was banned by the European football governing body UEFA until 30 June 2026, and 30 February, after another video of him smoking white powder in a bank note while in Germany for the euro last summer.
The judge worked on the clip in January and explained to the Sun how he endured a lifelong struggle to hide the fact that he was gay.
Coote said: “My sexuality isn’t the only reason I’ve come to be in that position. But if I don’t say I’m gay and I really struggle with hiding it, I’m not talking about the real thing.
“I hid my emotions as a young Ref, and I also hid my sexuality. It’s quality as a judge, but awful quality as a human being. It led me to a series of actions.”
