Nicholas Jackson spoke about his feelings towards Enzo Maresca after joining Bayern Munich on an overseason loan from Chelsea on a desperate transfer deadline
Nicholas Jackson insists he will not have grumble against Enzo Maresca after leaving Chelsea in a strange way at the transfer deadline. Jackson eventually left Bayern Munich’s blues, despite a change of heart from Chelsea, and eventually passed.
Senegal International was originally scheduled to join Bayern the day before the deadline, but Liam Dellup was injured just to derail those plans. Chelsea demanded that Jackson return from Munich and rejoin the team before he completes medical care.
However, Jackson and his representatives were still adamant about taking over the deal, and they were ultimately successful. Jackson will be able to join Bayern on loan for £13 million, and the German giant will be obliged to sign it permanently for £56.2 million next summer if he makes a set number of appearances.
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal for £30 million in the summer of 2023, scoring 30 goals in the club’s 81 appearances. However, with the arrival of Delap and Joao Pedro, he pushes down the boring order and a series of red cards see Maresca trusting him.

Despite the rapid relegation by the Chelsea manager and the unusual circumstances of his departure, Jackson refused to twist the knife. “There was a very strong feeling (out there), but not for the reason you might think,” Jackson told Tuttosport. “It was great to sign up for one of the world’s biggest clubs and discover another league and other great players.
“At the same time, it was a bit sad to leave Chelsea, our teammates and our fans. We experienced a lot of strong emotions there. We won the Conference League and the Club World Cup. Now I’m 100% focused on new projects and can’t wait to experience the incredible atmosphere at Allianz Arena.”
It’s only been a few months since Jackson was the center of Chelsea’s first choice. He made 37 appearances last season, earning 13 goals and six assists, but Maresca trusted him with a red card and Club World Cup at the end of the Premier League season.
“Soccer is full of cycles. Sometimes things don’t need it, and that’s part of the game,” Jackson added. “I admire Maresca. I learned a lot from him. He has his own ideas and style.
“I needed something different at this stage of my career. I have no regrets. I’m grateful for my time at Chelsea.”
He joined the Bayern side. The Bayern side is packed with stars and will compete for the starting lineup with Harry Kane, Serge Gunavrie, Louis Diaz and Michael Oris. Bayern has won both Bundesliga games so far this season, and Jackson was able to make his debut with Hamburg on Saturday after an international break.
