West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen clashed with fans earlier this season, but claims his explosion came from his passion for hammers to get his campaign back on track

Jarrod Bowen claims his spat with West Ham fans shows how much he loves the club. Bowen has been a back-to-back with travel supporters after West Ham’s defeat in the Carabao Cup wolves, but apologized on social media.

West Ham captain Bowen really made the correction last weekend by scoring in the club’s victory at Nottingham Forest. Bowen admits West Ham has gotten off to a tough start to the season, but believes they are now round the corner.

He told the BBC:

“So obviously, I’m disappointed and angry with myself by letting go of the lead, then you get caught up in it with the fans. But I think it’s because of the love of the club. I think the fans have a lot of love for the club.

“I’ve always put my heart on my sleeve and have a lot of passion and I want to do well with my team.

“I think sometimes they happen. For people who understand the club, like I do, I don’t think it’s almost frowned upon. You know, it’s not something I want to get out with people, and sometimes these things happen in football.

“In good times and bad times, you’re always together. Even in those bad times, we know that we’ve always been together as a club. The fans were still going for a week. We still sang the week out. Maybe we came to Nottingham Forest on the weekend and probably not expecting any results, but we enjoy the moment we spent the game. Ham, but it’s all part of it, and part of it.”

Bowen, who scored one goal with 16 caps, is set to get England’s chances at this camp, and even if competition is fierce, it could be his big chance ahead of the World Cup.

He added: “Attacks are probably the best option the UK has had for a few years. I’ve been in and out of squads for a few years now, and I’ve always been competing for the place. I think it’s really good.

“I think it’s a really big year for me. I have a really big year at the club level, and then there’s an international level too. I know the World Cup is rounding the corner, so for me I think I’m just trying to go back to the team and show you the week, what you’re doing at West Ham.

“Even the last time I felt like I was in a good place at the club level, I think you weren’t selected on the team and that’s what you have to face.

“All I could do was have a good preseason and try and get back to a really good place and work to get back to the first team I managed to make.

“I need my chance now if they come here. Once this is done, I’ll go back to the club and keep doing the same thing, and I’ll almost repeat the process and trust my abilities.”
