Liverpool was able to rival the Reds as Crystal Palace captain Mark Guech fell in 11 hours.
It is allegedly been that Mark Guech has either Liverpool or has not been outlocked during his transfer period. This could mean that Crystal Palace captains will still move to Merseyside next summer, despite the deadline switching falling apart and other teams taking part in the race.
England’s international Guehi will be allowed to leave the palace for free next summer when his contract expires. He will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a potential suitor from January 1st, but Liverpool will be testing the water in a winter bid to get some money for the skipper.
Currently, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also linked to the movement. However, they may be out of luck as BBC Sport reports that they are ready to leave Selhurst Park only if Guehi moves to Anfield.
The palace was expected to receive fees in the £35 million area if it sold Guehi on the deadline. But that wasn’t the case, and the lack of fees could mean that centrebacks could negotiate better wage packets next summer.
The club appeared to be open for sale, and Guehi had already filmed a farewell video. But he has to wait for his move. Manager Oliver Glasner threatens to quit if Evere Eze’s sale to Arsenal followed by another famous exit.

“I told the chairman that if I want to play this (this) a successful season, I have to keep the mark,” Glasner said in the match the day after Guech won 3-0 against Aston Villa on Sunday. “There is no chance of finding the right replacement in one day.
“We all agreed to sell the mark if there was a proper replacement for the building. We wanted a replacement on July 1st. With this agreement, that’s clear to me.
“He’s a very important player. He’s one of our important players – he’s our captain. Again, if we want to play a successful season, we have to protect him.”
Guehi, the under-17 World Cup winner in England in 2017, joined Crystal Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021 after an impressive Lawn Spelling at Swansea. He made over 150 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions and led them to victory in last season’s FA Cup finals to provide European qualifications.
“I’m a boy from South London. I grew up in South London. I captained the club from a young age,” he said in a leaked farewell video. “They’ve been great for me and my family. It’s definitely a joy to play at this football club.”
Real Madrid may be keen on the British, but they may need to rely on other targets. One of their options is Ibrahima Konate, himself, in the final year of his current contract with Liverpool.
