Premier League clubs had to complete their transfer business as the windows closed until Monday night, but free agents still give them the opportunity to continue hiring
The transfer window is closed, but that doesn’t mean Premier League clubs can’t take on deals with some of the free agents still on the market.
The desperate deadline meant that many clubs could insert team gaps. Newcastle, Aston Villa and Manchester United have secured all new arrivals to support the troubled areas, although Reuben Amorim is still being called to strengthen his midfield. Others, namely Liverpool, have been further strengthened.
While major deals have to wait until January, many players don’t have clubs and can secure new homes at any time. A few individuals are still trying to prove that they can cut it, mainly because contracts expire.
It is abundantly clear that even after three Premier League matches, there are issues that appear to remain until some clubs are fitted onto the team. It could motivate them to see if even short-term contracts can get serious value for money.
Free agents, especially those who don’t have a club yet, are easy to dismiss as simply surplus or the best player. But that doesn’t always apply to personal circumstances or to a desire to find the right environment that means that there is no employer yet.

Miller Football is still on the market but will look at some of the names that can work for the Top Flight Club following the closure of the transfer window.
Josh Brownhill
The midfielder was essential to Burnley, who was promoted to the Premier League last season, but the 29-year-old quickly turned to something new. Brown Hill scored 18 times for Clarett, but upon confirmation of his departure at the expiration of his contract, he insisted that it was “a fitting time for me to begin the next part of my football journey.” He was still enthusiastic about the Saudi Arabian club and refused to move to Leicester on the deadline, but the midfielder seemed comfortable working on top flights.
Alex Oclade Chamberlain
His resume includes over a decade at Arsenal and Liverpool, including medals for the Premier League and Champions League winners, but the British have returned to the market after leaving Besiktas.
The injury has plagued him throughout his career, but Oklade Chamberlain will still offer a lot. Birmingham is heavily linked to pushing the Premier League, but anyone with just 32 top flight appearances represents a great value.
Miralem Pujanik
The Bosnian is a key figure in Rome, Juventus and Barcelona, and although he is 35 years old, his experience is still counted. Teams looking for feet in the middle of the pitch are unlikely to find it by signing Pjanic, but they can’t look anymore if they want a general who can allow their brains to be superior while their age continues to fall victim to them. His stint with CSKA Moscow has just finished and he has never tried his hand in the Premier League.
Hakim Ziyech
Really, when he moved to Chelsea we never saw a player who lit it up for Ajax, but he rarely made him feel like he was supported by a manager and played in a crowded environment where his spot was really not glued to him.
The loan move didn’t work properly, but Morocco is still in his early 30s and his left foot produced some moments worthy of a reel. In the most prolific season of his career, he scored 22 times.
Jamal Lewis
Only 27 years old, he was part of the exciting Norwich side that won promotions under Daniel Fark. He had to take the order to be sent off at St. James Park and lend him to get a few minutes. Last season I spent time with Sao Paulo, Brazil. Lewis’ contract expires in the summer and he’s on the market with the fullback still at his pace if the team is willing to take a punt on him.
Kurt Zuma
The French defender left West Ham after lending in Saudi Arabia last season. At his peak he was a very influential figure, his physicality and athleticism made him a great center half, and he played for the Hammer as he claimed the glory of the Europa Congress League. Zouma is still only 30, and you can often see Premier League clubs approaching at the peak of defenders.
