Former Liverpool star John Aldridge lays on Bruno Fernandez and says he is not worthy of Captain Manchester United, adding that he has summed up the club’s agony in recent years.
Bruno Fernandez has been made into a “childish” brand by former Liverpool striker John Aldridge.
Ex-Kop Star Aldridge said that “defaristic” Fernandez was allowed to wear armbands given the great captains United had in the past, including Bryan Robson and Roy Keane. “Manchester United will be a better team than they don’t have Bruno Fernandez as captain,” Aldridge said.
“When there is a club captain with a Fernandez-like attitude, it denies such a great football club, especially considering he left the club’s previous leader. He is very impulsive and childish. I can’t believe he has never been sent out.
“The rivalry between Liverpool and United has always been intense, but I knew a lot of United players who acted well on the pitch.

“The way Fernandez does himself has represented the club’s performance in the last few years. If United brings in the right leader to replace him, they will definitely improve as a team.”
Aldridge also questioned the future of United boss Ruben Amorim, claiming as a “coin toss” whether the Portuguese head coach would still be in charge at the end of the season.
“Amorim is a very likable guy,” Aldridge said. “I think he did very well in the media, but when he’s the manager of a huge club like United, it’s not a long way.
“They can’t get any worse than last season. They look like they’re well balanced after ensuring good transfers like Brian Mbemo and Mash Cunya, but there are still many question marks on the team.
“Will Amorim last until the end of the season? I think it’s a coin toss. But things can change very quickly in football.
“Sir Alex Ferguson was reportedly one game away from being fired, and the club gave him the benefit of doubt, so anything could happen.”
