Arsenal considered offloading Gabriel Martinelli over the summer, but no buyer came close to matching the Brazilians’ ratings and led them to move forward
Arsenal was open to selling Gabriel Martinelli during the summer transfer period, but all their forward interest fell below their rating by £20 million, resulting in no consideration of sales.
The Brazilian was once the frontline mainstay of the Gunners, but his form last season was soaked, and Mikel Arteta bought many new faces.
Moved from Itouano to Emirates as an unknown amount, Martinelli continued to flower and linked to things like Real Madrid, but remained in northern London due to being part of the recent rise. However, his departure should have been considered only if the buyer received a bid of £60 million.
Daily Mail reports that stakeholders are not ready to surpass that £40 million mark, resulting in the idea of selling him being shelved, and he remains part of the attacks bolstered by the arrival of Eberechi Eze and Noni Maduke.
Martinelli played 51 times for Arteta’s side last season. Despite the highest number of his career and the arrival of more competition, the Arsenal boss claimed that the Brazilians will continue to play a very important role in the future.

He said: “No, I think Gabi is a very important player to us and he will remain very, very important. We have options with different qualities and that will meet what we want.
“We have him in many other areas of the pitch. He needs to start the game, especially at the frontline, finish the game. So I’m very pleased with what we have.”
Arsenal’s summer couldn’t be seen robbing the banks of meaningful windfalls with loans or minimal fees. It did not stop gunners spending, but they cannot match the sales revenue generated by their rivals.
The people of North London rarely sold players at their peak. Instead, they have offloaded players who know that buyers are not part of their plans. As a result, they only made £8.5 million over the summer, but Liverpool received over £200 million and Chelsea received £300 million.
