TNT Sports presenter Darrell Curry lives with a chronic illness, so he felt the pain he once told his wife. Curry, 43, last announced a live football game years ago.

He felt a severe pain in his head while halting his clash with Real Madrid in the Champions League at TNT Sports in September 2022. Curry described this feeling as something like “the bomb disappears in your brain.”

A few weeks later, he felt the same pain while covering the Scotland match against the Republic of Ireland, as if he was going to turn black. Curry was advised to be aired by the relevant producers, and in January 2023 he revealed that he was battling a mysterious chronic pain condition at the time.

Well, in tonight’s interview with Scotland, Curry details his heartbreaking battle with illness. “I had so many strange symptoms including dizziness and everything else, but it seemed my body was completely broken,” Curry explained.

“It had little functionality. I was in bed for a few days. I thought, “I could die here.” Because they gave me everything. The doctor sent me the medicine, painkillers, the strongest thing you could imagine.

“You still say, ‘Why me?’ I lay in bed and told my wife.

The Grassweets have undergone many medical tests, including Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, and achinoiditis. For a long time, the doctors were unable to give him a proper diagnosis.

After undergoing a massive 20 MRI scan, Curry was eventually diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease and is currently undergoing treatment in London. “There was nothing really perfecting the story of ‘What’s wrong with you?’ It was a medical merry-go-round,” he recalled.

“They didn’t know what was wrong with me and they could say they were just giving me the medicine. I’ll come back and I’ll take them in the end.

“I was diagnosed with Lyme disease – chronic Lyme disease, I was told. I dived into this treatment. I did antibiotics for six months and they said I had to go and do intravenous antibiotics from the back of it, and the quote was off-eyed.

“Ten thousands of pounds… I couldn’t spend my money. I was running out of money, so you have to prioritize.”

Curry admits he missed the broadcast, but he is fully focused on recovering for his family and he is beginning to feel strong. “I sometimes miss people and broadcasts,” he added.

“In the beginning, when you get sick, you chase after them as you come back to where you were. This feeling makes you think, ‘I need to go back to where I was.’

“It’s not healthy, so about a year later I lost hopelessness to come back. It was, “I need to live. I need to live for my family.”
