Liverpool supporters need to be patient before witnessing Alexander Isaac at his peak, with Swedish boss John Dahl Thomason revealing the harsh truth about his current health. The Reds concluded their summer saga by securing a £125 million ISAK capture on the deadline. He represented the acquisition of Marquee during a very active summer for Liverpool, who invested £450 million in fresh talent.
Isak scored 27 goals in all Newcastle competitions in the previous term, finishing second in the Premier League Golden Boots Contest after Mohamed Sarah. He eventually secured a much-needed move towards Liverpool, but his tactics took their blows.
The fallen tool of 25-year-old Newcastle rejected a feature for them until they fulfilled his desire to depart. He was forced to train in isolation, missed the Magpie preseason tour, and was extremely lacking in the sharpness of the match.
ISAK received a call for Swedish World Cup qualifiers during an international break but remained on the bench as they secured a 2-2 stalemate with Slovenia on Friday evening. Thomason attacked Arsenal Ace Victor Guiyoker along with Newcastle’s £55 million summer rookie Anthony Elanga, and then revealed that Isaac was never under consideration.
“We would have wanted to play him, everyone would want that,” the Swedish manager revealed. “But he only had three training sessions, no preseason and of course there was no match time, so the risk was too big to use him today.”
When asked if ISAK could feature in a match against Kosovo on Monday, Thomason replied: “Hopefully as a game changer.
These feelings were reflected by Isaac himself, who admitted his lack of fitness after signing Liverpool. “Of course, I think that’s an ambition,” he confessed to the club’s website.
“But I have a summer I haven’t played the game and I have been trained restricted so I think it’s about analyzing where I am and how ready I am to give.
When researching the area for improvement, he added: “Everything. I think I can give a lot of things to give to me. I think there’s a lot to improve. I’m a striker, but I mainly want to give my team as much as possible more than I can.
Liverpool have won all three Premier League matches this season, beating Bournemouth, Newcastle and Arsenal. But their performances are fantastic and Slots hopes Isaac’s arrival can provide a boost when he faces Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, September 14th.
