Daniel Levy immediately and effectively resigned as Tottenham’s chairman. Levy, the longest serving member of the Premier League, was at the helm for almost 25 years.

“I am extremely proud of the work I have done with the executive team and all of my employees,” Levy said on the club’s website.

“We built this club into a global heavyweight competition at the highest level, and more than that, we built a community.

“From the team at the Lily White House to all the players and managers over the years, I was able to work with some of the greatest people in the sport.

“I would like to thank all the fans who have supported me over the years. It has not always been an easy journey, but important progress has been made. I will continue to support this club passionately.”

Levi played a key role in appointing new Spurs head coach Thomas Frank, following the departure of Ange PostecoGro, despite the club’s success in the Europa League last season.

When Tottenham announced Levy’s departure, Peter Charlington announced that he had “no change in the club’s ownership or shareholder structure” in order to join the board and assume the newly created role of non-executive chairman.

“As part of the succession plan, the club has made many senior appointments over the past few months.

“Vinai Venkatesham has been hired as CEO, Thomas Frank has been hired as the new men’s head coach and Martin Ho has been hired as the women’s head coach. Peter Charlington will join the board and step into the newly created role of non-executive chairman.”

Charlington praised Levy’s efforts in the club’s advancement, including securing participation in the new stadium and Champions League, reaching the final in 2019, losing to Liverpool.

“We are extremely honored to be the non-executive president of this extraordinary club. On behalf of the board, we would like to thank Daniel and his family for their commitment and loyalty to the club over the years,” Charlington said.

“This is a new era of leadership for the club, both on and off the pitch, and I recognize that there have been a lot of changes over the last few months as we laid new foundations for our future.

“We are now giving stability and empowering talent across the club led by Vinai and his executive team.”
