Dan Byrne revealed that after sealing off his move to Liverpool, Alexander Isaac sent a message to the WhatsApp group of Newcastle United players. Magpie defender Burn was asked about the toxic Isaac transfer saga on Friday ahead of the conflict between England and Andorra.
Isaac cut off all his relationship with Newcastle from outside, due to his way of departure. He did not take part in the season or feature in any of the pre-season or the opening three games of the season, and he issued a bomb statement denounced the North East Club for “breaking promises.” That led to his previous supporters confronting him on the streets and chanting him to him, whom he called him “greedy.”
Newcastle stars Sven Bottman and Anthony Gordon faced backlash from their fans to post messages of good fortune on social media after the Liverpool move was announced. But Byrne now reveals that the duo’s feelings are shared by the majority of the team, including himself.
Magpie fans from his 33-year-old boyhood age revealed that Isak exchanged messages with the WhatsApp group team and appreciated the memories they created together. He said: “Alex is my ally at the end of the day, so it was a tough situation, but I am happy to see that he has got a good return on the players we had and get the move he wanted.
“He put a message in the chat and sent it saying he was gone and I’m grateful for the memories, all that stuff, and the young people answered,” Byrne added. “Of course (it was all positive), but like I said, I think Alex is getting what he wants.
“It really brought us closer. Really. I’m not stupid. I’ve been around football for a long time and people have short careers.
“They want to make the most of everything they can and therefore have no harsh feelings from me. I have only good wishes for Alex. I understand why the fans are irritated, but there is no hostility.”
Isaac’s Swedish teammate Anthony Elanga, who joined Nottingham Forest’s Newcastle earlier this summer, is disappointed that he will not play alongside his Tyneside compatriots and their country as well as his compatriots. But he said: “That’s his choice. He chose Liverpool, I wish him good luck. He’s a friend to me and a great footballer.”
