Fulham’s manager Marco Silva clashed with “incredible” decisions from officials in his team’s defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League. The Cottage was at the wrong end with many controversial calls as they lost 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to continue winning the league this season.

Silva’s team thought they had a lead before halftime when Josh King finished confidently with the race running and his first Premier League goal. However, after the VAR check, referee Rob Jones ruled that Rodrigo Muniz had committed a foul early in the move.

Chelsea took the lead and Joan Pedro headed home at nine minutes of first half downtime after a minimum of eight minutes on the board. Silva was waiting for Judge Jones during the break.

Things got worse for visitors early in the second half. Enzo Fernandez scored from the penalty spot after Ryan Sesegnon was penalised for handball – after another VAR check – but some fans watching the game felt that João Pedro had committed the guilty of handball before Sesegnon’s attack.

“It’s incredible for me,” Silva said of King’s goals that weren’t allowed when talking to TNT Sports after the match. “And of course… you can talk about a lot, I prefer not to say anything anymore because I’ll be punished.

“And I want to be on the bench in the next game, I don’t want to pay a fine, I want to help the players. But for us, the beginning of this season has been difficult for us, with many decisions as long as they shouldn’t.”

This was the second game that left Silva irritated by VAR Call. He questioned why there was no intervention to deny Manchester United’s goal at Craven Cottage last weekend due to a foul, but this time the Portuguese led to Chelsea opener in addition to the Valdrama surrounding Chalk’s goal.

“After the first corner, it was already nine minutes (of stop time),” Silva added. “They (Chelsea) had their first corner in the 8th minute. There’s your moment. If it’s for me, I’d like to see the corner. 8th minute.

“He (the referee) has to stop the game. It’s by the rules, he has to stop the game. I’m not saying that it’s my opinion – by the rules. I asked the referee, he said, “We were talking to the players, so I was talking for eight minutes.” The game and we move on.

He added: “I make mistakes, refs can make mistakes. The Premier League is so intense, so tough, everything. But it has to be black or white.
