Mohamed Sarah may still be at the peak of his strength in Liverpool, but that has not stopped the Premier League champions from looking at his successor

The succession plan is firmly present in the minds of Liverpool’s boardrooms, and they reportedly target Bayern Munich’s Michael Oris as the ultimate alternative to Mohamed Sarah. The Reds could also have tricks on their sleeves to ensure they’ll trade without any issues next year. It’s a healthy relationship with Bayern.

After three seasons of stints at Crystal Palace, he scored 16 goals and registered 25 assists before joining Bayern in the summer of July 2024 to earn his first £45 million. The move also sought great interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, and changed his mind along with the 23-year-old.

He has seen his career progress better elsewhere, but Liverpool is actively looking to bring Oris back to the British coast next summer, the Daily Mail claims. If Arne Slot and Reds Hierarchy decide to act on their interests, a strong connection with Bayern could be a major factor in allowing smooth negotiations for the right winger.

Anfield’s outfit has dealt with Bayern in various deals in recent years, strengthening their strong relationship. Over the past 11 years, two clubs have broken the deal of five players.

Since 2014, Liverpool has sold three players to the Germans, with Peperena, Sadiomane and most recently Louis Diaz moving from Merseyside to Bayern. The Reds purchased the Rien Gray Gun Birch from the Bundesliga side in 2023, and three years ago Thiago Alcantara also signed it from them.

Before these deals, Liverpool also purchased Marx Babel and Aludiala from the German giants in 2000 and 2002, respectively. The appeal of simple negotiations is very appealing for the Reds, following the extremely complicated pursuit of Alexander Isaac’s summer from Newcastle.

Liverpool’s failure to move against Palace Captain Mark Ngwegh, which collapsed at the last minute after long discussions this summer, could also haunt the Merseyside club when it comes to future transfer deals. There is no doubt that Sarah is still operating at a high level in his senior years.

The Egyptian star secured the Reds’ 20th top flight title last year, scoring 34 goals to win the PFA Player of the Year, becoming the first player in history to win the award three times in 2018 and 2022. Hugo Ekitike, 23.

Olise also appears to have been the target of Reds for a while. Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp once gave him scouting the Frenchman during the 2021/22 season.

Klopp claimed he was watching Palace’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City for “analytical reasons.” However, Oris left the position at Selhurst Park in the 65th minute, making it quite clear who looked at.

It is no secret that Liverpool is currently seeing the club’s long-term health across the pitch. Italian centre back Giovan Nileoni, 18, joined from Parma this summer for £26 million, but the pursuit of club palace star Guech also shows he is considering living beyond club captain Virgil Vandic (34).

The 21-year-old new signing Milos Karques took the spot for 31-year-old left-back Andy Robertson in the first XI. Georgian keeper Giorgi Mamaldashvili, 24, signed from Valencia, is aiming to rival 32-year-old Allison Becker as the club’s number one spot.

Sarah joined Liverpool from Rome in 2017 and is now the club’s third highest scorer with 246 goals. He signed a new two-year contract in April. The 33-year-old came in fourth with Andy Cole on the 187 Premier League all-time high scoring charts and 10th with 88 assists.

His relentless eyes of scaling these tables to the top will definitely prevent Liverpool from replacing him soon. However, Oris, who kicks off with three goals this season in two games for Bayerns and already has 23 goals and 23 assists for Germany, could be a good bet to take over the Egyptian mantle.
