Mohamed Sarah considers Aston Villa “lucky” to have Harvey Elliott after finishing the deadline for the Liverpool star. The midfielder moved to Villa Park on an in-season loan, obliged to buy him forever for £35 million next summer.
Liverpool has retained a buyback clause for the arrangement, but Sarah has already said goodbye to Elliot with a heartfelt message on social media. Posting on X along with a photo of the duo, Sarah wrote:
Elliot, 22, leaves Liverpool following a six-year spell at Anfield after a switch from Fulham. He recorded 149 appearances for the Reds, scoring 15 goals and won the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Club World Cup during his time with the club.
After he left, he posted a long farewell message to his fans. Elliott wrote:
“Thanks to Bord and Jurgen Klopp for helping me with my dream of becoming a Liverpool player. ArneSlot, all the coaches and staff who helped me along the way, and of course, my teammates – it was a privilege to play with you.
“An incredible Liverpool fan. Thank you for making me one of your own and for always supporting me through both good and tough times. I always cherish the bonds I have with. I always have Liverpool in my heart.
“Now is a time for new challenges. I am incredibly ambitious and I feel that at this stage of my career it is important to be in an environment where I can play and get the opportunity to advance as much as possible.
Sarah’s message to the midfielder wasn’t the first time he’d commented on Liverpool’s summer deal. The Egyptian star traded Darwin Nunes and Lewis Diaz for Alexander Isaac, robbing several fans and umbrellas, suggesting that Florian Wiltz was an “upgrade.”

Elliott will face a quick return to Merseyside when Villa travels to Everton after an international break on Saturday, September 13th. Meanwhile, Liverpool will resume their Premier League title defense at Burnley on September 14th.
