Arsenal will be sweating early in the collision with Liverpool after William Saliba’s enforced exit, and could have a lasting impact on the gunners

Mikel Arteta admits that injuries have become a problem again after becoming an Arsenal problem, as they bring another challenge to the Premier League title. The gunners approached each of the last three campaigns.

However, their propulsion into the silverware was derailed late due to the combination of form and loss of injury. And Arsenal has already lost many key players, so he admits that the campaign may not be different.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka will be ruled out in the near future, and William Saliba is the latest to enter the treatment room that took off in the opening phase of Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

After full time, Arsenal boss Arteta said: “I’m very disappointed with the outcome. I’m very proud of the players. Both had to dig into a level where there was nothing between them.

“You can’t dominate here for 90 minutes, that’s not possible. At the end of the game, I said you have to find a way to win these big matches.

“When you have the ball, you have to put the ball behind the net. It was way better than last year. If you want to win a game, you have to put the ball behind the net.

“We lost Martin (Odegard), Kai (Hubert), then Bukayo (Saka). We lost Saliba in the warm-up.”

Arteta provided an update on Saliba after the game, revealing exactly why he retreated. He said: “He twisted his ankle while warming up.

“He came in and said he believed he could continue playing, but he quickly realized that he couldn’t cope and, unfortunately, had to kick him out.

“But I’m grateful that we have Mosquera. Mosquera was his first Premier League debut. We didn’t expect that at Anfield. He was really, really good.”

Arsenal is currently spending weeks allowing players to return to full fitness, with international breaks set to pause domestic actions. Gunners’ next game will pit them against Nottingham Forest at Emirates Stadium two weeks later.

Arsenal came in third in the Premier League table after three games, winning two times.
