James Trafford returned to Manchester City in the summer with a dream of becoming the club’s number one amid the uncertainty surrounding Edason, but now those hopes are in ruins
James Trafford is one of the few Manchester City people, lamenting that his deadline arrival has signed Gianruli Donnaruma.
Having returned to City from Burnley this summer and started all three Premier League games this season, Trafford was told it was only a matter of time before he became the No. 1 goalkeeper.
With Edason entering the final year of his contract, the plan outlined by Trafford was to spend the season as a backup before graduating to first-choice status when City’s long-term No. 1 leaves.
However, the £27 million signature of Italian Euro 2020 and Champions League winner Donnarumma paid England hopes to become No. 1 in the City of Trafford, under the age of 21. Donnarumma, 26, has signed a five-year contract with City and City. Trafford must be pleased to play the role of Studydy along with fellow backup keeper Stefan Ortega.

For Trafford and Ortega, the EFL Cup and FA Cup are now the only realistic chances to start a match. What seemed like a step up in Trafford’s career, at 23, has now become a step backward. At Burnley, it was guaranteed to start all the games. Now he has to train without incentives to perform.
Eight years later, he said goodbye to City and came in first place. This is the spell that won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and the Champions League, and Ederson said:
“Under PEP, we won, dominated the Premier League and conquered Europe. That’s amazing.
“First of all, I would like to thank him and Xabier Mancisidor for being the best goalkeeper I could and for telling me so much about the game.
“I have to thank my teammates as well. The desire to win every game we play was a joy to participate, which made me entertained every day with you all in the training field and in the dressing room.
“Finally, my fan. Thank you for making me feel home in a city far from where I come from, and for supporting me through wonderful times for me and my family.
“I arrived in hopeful Manchester eight years ago, but together we couldn’t predict such a beautiful time.
“Playing at City is the most special time of my life and I will always be a fan of this special club. I will go with my wife and kids, but I will leave a big family here. Once, blue, always blue.”
