Cristiano Ronaldo’s deadline move to Manchester United in 2021 sent shockwaves through the Premier League as the Red Devils welcomed the legend of their club after 12 years of absence

There are few signatures that match the hype and happiness. Following the exciting new additions of Rafael Vallan and Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2021, United appeared to be about to take a hit as the club’s legendary Ronaldo looked to return to the Premier League.

The 36-year-old at the time was strongly linked to his move to his Manchester City neighbor. However, the Red Devils intervened in the final ditch with Juventus and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes, but the club legends Irish Alex Ferguson and Rio Ferdinand called the players to discourage him from joining the city.

The subsequent bomb announcements have made the five-time Ballon d’Or winner clearly joining the side of Allgunnar Solskare and set off for Real Madrid to become one of the greatest players of all time. For many fans, it marked their dream return and marked a return to old Manchester United, which had been lost since Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

Ronaldo’s sensational return cost the first £13 million, but totaled £38 million when considering the £385,000 a week he was paid over the next 64 weeks he spent in Manchester. Despite being a huge sum for players in their mid-30s, it still represents the £500,000 per week salary cut received at Juve.

And, simply put, fans didn’t bother as they raced to print the name of the Portuguese icon on the back of their 2021/22 jersey. The pleasant factor was passing through the roof. Swashbuckling United, led by club legend Solskier, finished second in the previous season.

Ronaldo said after his move was announced:

“I can’t wait to play at Old Trafford in front of the Full Stadium and see all the fans again, and I look forward to joining the team after the international game.

Ronaldo, who first joined the Old Trafford Club in 2003, became a world beater from exciting prospects over the next six years, scoring a goal for the Red Devils for over a century, helping to secure three Premier League crowns and the Champions League.

Upon his return, he returned the iconic No. 7 shirt and scored on his second debut against Newcastle. More goals continued as he registered 24 in all competitions, but his efforts were in vain as United struggled with form and Solskaer was fired early in his first season.

Ronaldo played under two interim managers who were in season with Michael Carrick and Ralph Langnick, and became increasingly annoyed by the fall of Grace. Ronaldo reportedly tried to design the movement elsewhere but was unable to do so before the relocation window, but United refused to let him go.

The appointment of Eric Ten Hag as a permanent boss in the summer of 2022 presented a potential new start until it became clear that the Dutch were not offering priority treatment to veterans. The Portuguese were omitted from the Manchester Derby defeat as a rival in Manchester City, which became a hot topic.

Ten Hag claimed that United left Ronaldo on the bench “respectfully” as it was 4-0 at halftime, but later asked Ronaldo to come as a replacement three minutes before the end of the victory over Tottenham.

Ronaldo then dropped the tunnel in front of the final whi and left Old Trafford. The incident in which he admitted to regretting his regret. Ten Hag responded to that tantrum by pausing him for one fixture before making Ronaldo’s captain in the next four matches.

However, Ronaldo’s heart has already been made, and ahead of the 2022 World Cup, he sat in every interview with his best friend Piers Morgan on talk TV, blowing up both the 10 hugs and his predecessor, Langnik.

The forward claimed he was “betrayed” by United, but that 10 hugs tried to drive him out of the club. United ended their contract and paved the way for travel to current club Al-Nassr in January 2023, leading one of the club’s biggest and most exciting signatures to a bitter end.
