Liverpool’s head coach has been selected as the club’s vice captain following Trent Alexander Arnold’s transfer to Real Madrid.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that defender Andy Robertson is the club’s vice captain. After Trent Alexander Arnold left for Real Madrid at the end of last season, Virgil Can Dick had no official aide.
Robertson was one of four players who wore the armband last season, with Mo Salah taking responsibility for Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. However, it is the Scottish captain who was handed the formal honor of being a club backup when Van Dyke is not available.
The 31-year-old veteran was a stubborn Liverpool who started XIS after arriving from Hull City eight years ago. However, this season, Robertson faces new challenges.
The fullback was linked to something like Atletico Madrid, who was interested in his signature, and the possibility of departure from Anfield. And after Milos Kerquez arrived at Anfield, a competition was added under the slot.
Nonetheless, Robertson’s seniority and mentality have seen him take on the responsibility of vice captain. That was a logical decision for slots.

The Dutch told reporters: “It’s Robo. He’s played here for many years and won the league twice. Last season was Virgil, Trent, Robbo and Mo (Sarah).
“He’s a very good player, he plays a lot of games, he knows what it does, he knows the culture, but he also knows the club and dressing room culture.
“Aside from all the quality he shows on the pitch, he also plays a big role in the culture we have at this club, meaning that he has many times last season, the biggest gift we can get from Jurgen (Klopp).
“It’s also something that my successor has to definitely maintain in order to have this same culture if I leave this club.”
With the transfer deadline approaching ahead of Arsenal, slots suggested that the club would act if the right opportunity arrived.
“If we can strengthen our team, it’s for the right money and if it’s the right player, we’ll always try to do it,” he said. “We only have three or four days to go now, so let’s see if we do anything.
