Senne Lammens signed Manchester United’s dotted line at the transfer deadline, but his arrival frowned more scrutiny in the goalkeeping position
Only Manchester United were able to close the successful transfer window with a signature that raised more questions than answered.
They were able to recruit proven Premier League attackers with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and offload most of the exiled “bomb squad” of Ruben Amorim, allowing the Window to consider a promising young striker at United a victory at United.
However, Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens’ signing £18.2 million deadline helped add to the United issue between posts rather than providing them with a solution.
United chose to sign 23-year-old Lammens instead of Aston Villa’s 33-year-old World Cup winner Emi Martinez, so they added another keeper without establishing No. 1.
United will face local rival Manchester City at Etihad Stadium in the first derby of the new season on Sunday, with uncertainty as to who will start on Amorim’s side goal.

Currently, United bosses have four goalkeepers: Runmen, Andre Onana, Altai Bayindeal and Tom Heaton. One of them must regain his balance this season’s European football and EFL equipment and regain his balance to a team that doesn’t have European football following the exit to League 2 Grimsby.
Sources close to Onana have revealed that United’s No. 1 Cameroon International will stay and fight to regain its status over the past two seasons. It is understood that Bayindir would like to remain, but Heaton only signed an extension this summer.
Throwing a lambmen in the heat of the Manchester Derby for its Premier League debut is a dangerous move. A source close to Amorim says that United head coaches are rarely willing to make.
If Amorim starts Lammen at City and the younger Keeper makes a mistake, Amorim will be criticized for not giving him time to settle and adapt to his new environment.
This has caused Onana and Bay Indeal to have already attracted attention this season, but after both the Manchester side have launched a new campaign, they know what to expect in a game where neither Manchester side can afford to lose.
Contrary to that background, Amorim chooses Rammen and if he backfires that decision, if he doesn’t, if he gets a nod from an error-prone duo, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, he does, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, he does, if he doesn’t, if he doesn’t, he does, he does a terrible thing.
If United were to move forward with Martinez’s move, he was 10 years old, even if he would cost twice as much as Lammen, demanding at least £200,000 a week, but there was no doubt about Amorim’s No. 1 identity.
According to United sources, Runmens has not been identified and was signed in hopes of eventually joining the starting lineup directly. However, the vulnerability of Onana and Bayindir means that Amorim decides to cut his losses and throw him straight into the team.
The main strength that Runmen brings is his ability to stop his shots. The top 10 league-wide keepers in Europe have saved more penalties than the Belgian under 21 stars since the start of last season.
Ranmen also undoubtedly stronger in the air than Onana and Bay Indil, and in a commidious area, he blocks him from trying to come to the ball when the team tries to target the opposition goalkeeper. Last season, Runmen emphasized his confidence to stop 44 crosses and get out of the ball more than any other Belgian keeper.
While there appears to be a lot of long-term positivity from United’s acquisition of 6-foot-4-inch Lammen, his arrival does not provide an immediate solution to the problems facing Amorim. Establishing and sticking with the recognized No. 1 keeper is the first step to doing that.
