West Ham star Lucas Paketa escaped a fixed spot fee in July, but he is waiting for results after proven lower fees for the FA’s two-year investigation.
Lucas Paqueta could face a six-figure fine despite being exempt from the most serious charges related to betting violations. After two years of research, the West Ham midfielder was cleared for the summer, but he has not left the woods.
The FA began an investigation in August 2023 to allegations that Paketa was involved in the attack in four Premier League matches from November 2023 to August 2023.
Although Paketa did not make his own bets, it is said that he made a profit after his Brazilian friends and family bet on yellow cards for the midfielder. He denied allegations and misconduct and was exempt from a spot amendment charge in July.
The Independent Committee discovered that the charges were not proven, saving him from the possibility of a lifetime ban from football. However, it turns out that fewer accusations against the Brazilians have been proven.

The 28-year-old was found to have failed to answer questions and could not provide information to the FA investigation. He is currently awaiting the outcome of these charges, and The Times reports that the reasons written this week will be made public.
The FA reportedly expects a £150,000 fine, roughly equivalent to the weekly wage for Paketa, who had been working for West Ham since his £50 million transfer from Lyon in the summer of 2022.
It could also be that the FA would be forced to pay the legal costs of the Paketa, which could exceed £1 million.
In response to the July verdict, Paketa said in a statement: “From the first day of this investigation, I have maintained my innocence against these very serious accusations. At this point, I can’t say anything more, but I would like to thank God and express how enthusiastic I am to play football with a smile on my face.
“Thank you to my wife who never lets go of my hands, West Ham, to my fans who have always supported me, and to my family, friends and legal team for supporting me – everything.”
West Ham was furious at how long it took to finish the investigation, and Paketa and his family were deeply influenced by drugs. The attacking midfielder received a reservation for a Premier League match against Tottenham in May, shed tears after the incident sparked emotion.
His wife Duda defended him after the incident, writing on Instagram: “My husband has the attitude and strength I admire. We have lived this nightmare for two years.
