Cobbie Mineau’s future looks uncertain at Manchester United after being dropped by Reuben Amorim, and the English midfielder had a lot of interest from elsewhere on the deadline day after demanding a loan move
Manchester United star Cobbie Mineau has enquiries from six clubs on the transfer deadline after informing him of his desire to be lended out, including three in the Premier League.
Mainoo slips down the hierarchy at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim, with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes being a preferred midfield pairing in his 3-4-3 system.
The club’s academy outlook was once considered the team’s future superstar after a breakthrough in the 2023-24 Premier League season, but he has struggled to kick on since Amorim arrived late last year.
Mainoo hasn’t played a few minutes in the league this season. Amorim says he didn’t consider him a No. 6. Instead, he said Bruno Fernandez is a competition as a more creative player.
As a result, Mainoo tried to temporarily leave the club just a few minutes before the 2026 World Cup in England next year, but was blocked by United.

According to The Daily Mail, the 20-year-old was told to fight for his place instead, and United had to lend out an exciting midfielder and intrigued by many clubs.
United were inquired by three Premier League teams (Tottenham, Aston Villa and Everton), but there were three more from other European teams. Marseille, Rome and Napoli were all interested in lending players for the season.
Napoli in particular was the manager of Antonio Conte, who was supposed to play alongside former United midfielder Scott McTominai, who thriving under the Italians.
After Matheus Cunha suffered a hamstring injury, Mainoo has the opportunity to feature in the middle.
He played the second half of United’s 3-2 victory over Burnley on Saturday, claiming that Amorim didn’t want players to leave before the game.
“I want you to stay at Cobby,” he said. “He needs to fight for his place and we need Cobbies, so that won’t change.
“I understand that players who aren’t playing in this moment are disappointed. Everyone will have the same opportunity. You have to fight that week.”
Mainoo featured a total of 74 times for United and scored seven goals. He joined the club at the age of seven and made his first team debut 10 years later. Mainoo has already won 10 caps for England and began his team’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 Final.
