Emi Martinez left the blush after being brutally ignored after demanding transfer deadline date

Manchester United have chosen to sign Senne Ranmen in search of a new goalkeeper.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was left with a red face despite telling his club he wanted to join the Red Devils after Manchester United decided not to move forward by signing Argentina International.

Martinez has been thrown aside this season by manager Unai Emery and is strongly linked to the exit of this transfer window, especially after the arrival of new shot stopper Marco Bizotto.

The World Cup winner appeared only once this season in a 1-0 loss to Brentford. Bizot won the No. 1 jersey for a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

As Martinez was sidelined at the villa, he reportedly told the club chief he was keen to secure his move to Old Trafford with his bids for a regular few minutes this season.

It’s the year of the World Cup, and Martinez would want to ensure he plays in a week to give him the best chance to maintain Argentina’s first choice keeper at the 2026 World Cup in North America.

United have also evaluated the moves of Royal Antwerp’s Belgian goalkeeper Senne Ranmens after his appearance as one of Europe’s most promising young keepers.

And Ranmen looks like the goalkeeper United’s chosen one after agreeing to a deal of around £18 million to sign the 23-year-old.

Lammens is set to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford and has completed the move to Manchester. That is, Martinez is disappointed after being snubled.

Reports from Sky Sports claim that United are considering other goalkeeping options, including Martinez, but Lammens felt it was the best and right choice for the club in the long run. He will be taking on the No. 1 jersey this season after attracting attention from both Andre Onana and Altai Bayindeal.

For Martinez, he is going to sit on the sidelines, at least for the first part of the season – unless he can secure a last-minute deadline move elsewhere.

The 32-year-old has played 213 games at the villa since joining Arsenal in 2020, but Emery says the players are “not focused” and uncertainty isn’t helping the team.

“We need players who are focused. 100%. He wasn’t. It’s not helping us. It’s one of the situations we’re not helping right now.

“The windows are over tomorrow and we are hoping for something to improve our team. Stay calm. One situation is Emi Martinez. I’ll look tomorrow and try to balance and work after the break.”
