Manchester United will attempt to offload several fringe players before the transfer deadline next week, with Napoli working on a deal to bring Rasmus Hozilund
Rasmus Hojlund may be close to the exit for Manchester United, but despite signing a big Benjamin Sesco, the young striker is still “desperate” to stay at Old Trafford.
Hojlund, 22, joined United in the summer of 2023 for £72 million, but has scored 14 Premier League goals over the past two seasons. And it’s no secret that United spends more than £200 million on the frontlines of new look of Sesco, Mateus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo this summer, and Hojlund is now effectively surplus on the requirements.
As Reuben Amorim ensured that he would set up Cesco as one of his strikers over the coming weeks, Hozilund became the subject of strong interest from Naples, and the contract that first loaned the former Atalanta man is now at a high level.
However, the post reports that Hojlund’s preference is to stay and fight for his place in United – even after being excluded from the match-day team for a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Sunday.

Rather, Hozilund stays is not ideal for United, but the hope is that he leaves Old Trafford by the September 1 deadline. He and the other Fringe players are likely to be featured in the town of Grimsby in the league cup fixtures on Wednesday night, so this could be their final match at the club.
United wants to make sales after spending a lot of time this summer and are ready to take a big hit at Hodzilund. They agreed to a package worth 45 million euros (£39 million). Naples is obligated to sign Dane permanently after his first loan.

Hodglund’s passive farewell could take place in Grimsby on Wednesday night as United heads to Lincolnshire. Although there is a change from the weekend match against Fulham, Amorim is not drawn to comments to individuals.
“All players are available,” Amorim said at a pre-match press conference. “After that, we choose to try and get the best starting XI to win every game. We have three games this week, we have quality players and we need to do some rotation to win every game.”
