Oliver Glasner threatened to stop if Crystal Palace sold Mark Guech to Liverpool, Alexander Isaac and Emi Martinez’s Day Reaction – Paper Round

Oliver Glasner’s “anger” ensured Crystal Palace would continue to hold Captain Mark Guech the day after his move to Liverpool fell apart, the Guardian reported, but the Daily Miller also said the manager threatened to quit if the player was sold.

Guehi was widely expected to complete his move to Premier League champions on Monday, but Glasner ensured that the defender will remain a palace player for now.

The Guardian wrote: “Glasner was extremely unhappy with the decision to accept Liverpool’s offer and repeated his plea to not sell the captain on Monday evening on the final day of the transfer window of a fierce talk with club chair Steve Parrish.

“The Austrian, who led the palace to the first trophy when he won the FA Cup in May, even resigned after making it clear that he had to hold Guehi to make the season a success.

“And their failure to be replaced directly in time has ultimately convinced the parish to inform Liverpool of the deal after winning the Arne Slot side at Community Shield that it must be sold this month to avoid losing his 25 year old next summer.”

Martinez and Isaac’s reaction

The paper runs a commentary article that responds to the busy transfer deadline on Monday. Telegraph’s matt law states that Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez “destroyed his reputation” after failing to materialize after leaving the club.

“It’s not difficult to pick the so-called winner of the transfer window given Liverpool’s impressive summer spending, but it’s even easier to identify the biggest loser, Emiliano Martinez,” the law writes.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United chose to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens on behalf of Martinez because they cannot sell Jadon Sancho forever.

Sancho joined Aston Villa on loan, which denied United’s opportunity to raise money to guide Martinez in other directions.

The email added:

“Martinez’s £200,000 a week wage would have had to get United to earn Sancho’s transfer fees, but he preferred loans.

“The foundations of the Runmen’s movement have been laid for some time, and the final touch was sealed on Monday when I boarded a private plane from Antwerp to Manchester.”

Elsewhere, Times’ Paul Joyce says players must prove Anfield’s troublesome worth as they were confirmed late Monday night with Alexander Isaac’s switch from Newcastle to Liverpool.

As Isaac refused to force Newcastle to force a move, Telegraph’s Jason Burt said “bad behaviour pays” after Joan Wissa did the same.

“The transfer window is broken,” adds Burt. “Even though this summer breaks all records, it’s not for purpose. It doesn’t work. In fact, it feels almost inordinated.

“There’s a dispute over how other systems are going to explain effectively a strike and force a move, and the argument that they’re just there and a “gentleman agreement” – what about that good management team? ”
