Marc Guech breaks silence in Liverpool transfer story as requests were rejected | Soccer|Sports

Marc Guech tried to shut out speculation that linked him to the switch to Liverpool following what could prove to be the final outing of Crystal Palace’s dream. The centre-back is permanently linked to a potential move to Anfield, and the Reds could begin a final groove attempt to secure his service during the closing hours of the transfer window.

Given that Guehi has only 12 months left in the Selhurst Park deal, the palace appears to be about to say goodbye to the defender, but is reportedly demanding £40 million. Despite rumors about the summer swirling around him, he still led Crystal Palace as captain in a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday. He also netted an epic strike to seal the victory of Oliver Glasner’s men.

When asked about his thinking amid the chaos of his transfer, England International responded: “I’m fine. I think so. I don’t like the spotlight. I’m happy to have good clubs and good teammates around me.

Discussing his goals and celebrations of joy, he explained: “It’s blurry! I don’t remember much. Acquiring such a goal will slow down your team’s performance. Credits should be sent to the team.

“I was tired! I’m running very much. It’s important that we stay humble and we’ll see what the future holds.

“(The club) means a lot. I’m a boy from South London, raised in South London and captained the club from a young age. They’re great for me and my family. It’s fun to play for this club.”

Despite his outstanding performance in the Midlands, Guehi was reluctant to take the center stage in the final whistle. Goalkeeper Dean Henderson tried to push him in front of a famous player.

However, Guehi declined and instead chose to get applause along with his teammates.

Prior to the match, Glasner said: “Everyone can see the importance of Mark. Honestly, I don’t know, but I really really hope that Mark will play at Villa Park, and deeply hope that Mark will play until the end of the season.

“Of course he’s got a deal here at Crystal Palace. He plays a lot and trains here. And it’s clear that he plays. The situation is clear. Everyone knows about it. Mark is a great guy and that’s why he plays.”

Jean-Philippe Mateta, Guehi’s teammate at the Palace, did not stifle praise for the players. He said:

Despite his desire to maintain the palace’s Guehi, Liverpool’s need for him may have increased after being injured by defender Ibrahima Connate during his victory over title contender Arsenal on Sunday.

When questioning whether this could encourage Liverpool to look for a new defender, Slot replied:

“I think we were very well in terms of centre-backs. I think it was a convulsion, so I don’t think it was an injury. We’ll have to find it in the upcoming game.”
