Chelsea continued to fight for compensation after losing Ling Moha to Liverpool almost a year ago – a teenage sense shows his quality as the Premier League was forced to make a decision

Chelsea remained caught up in a financial battle with Liverpool, and after losing Ling Moha to the Reds, the Premier League has to intervene, and the youngsters continue to blossom – rubbing more salt with the blues wounds.

The 16-year-old became the fourth-youngest scorer in Premier League history, sealing off a dramatic victory for Newcastle’s Merseysiders on Monday in the 100th minute. Ngumoha came out of the bench late and ended impressively to land three points.

Last year, the youngster left Chelsea and headed to Anfield with a highly controversial switch with the people of West London, believing they had lost the talent of a generation.

The Daily Mail reported that the court is set to settle it at a fee, but almost a year after the ongoing move, no decision has been made by the Premier League yet. However, Chelsea believes that Ngumoha’s stellar contribution on Monday night will encourage compensation lawsuits.

A precedent was set in the year when Liverpool paid Fulham about £4.3 million. Harvey Elliott landed Harvey Elliott, who became the first team star from the academy, in a case he went to court.

Liverpool’s successful move against Ngumoha passed the five-step Premier League process, but it has little to no use for the people of Chelsea and bad blood continues. They were so frustrated that the Blues understood that Liverpool youth scouts had banned them from participating in academy matches.

Ngumoha was selected as a tournament player when Chelsea under 16 was selected as the National Champion in 2023, and undoubtedly put him on the radar of several top clubs, making Liverpool profitable as a result.

Arne Slot is very aware of the quality his teenagers own and made it clear he is ready to be involved this season. In light of Monday’s magical moment, the Liverpool boss said: “Of course it’s special for him to score a goal in such a flash.”

The outlook for an academy that travels between some of England’s biggest names is not uncommon. Last season, highly rated striker Chido Obi-Martin declined a chance to sign his first professional contract with Arsenal and opted to continue his career at Manchester United instead.
