Liverpool is considering a second bid for Newcastle star Alexander Isaac, who has been called by the Swedish team ahead of the two World Cup qualifiers that will take place after the transfer deadline date.
Swedish manager John Dahl Thomason admits that despite Liverpool’s aim for international obligations, Alexander Isaac may not be ready to play for 90 minutes. The 25-year-old Isak hasn’t had a competitive game since May, but has missed out on the entire Newcastle preseason campaign amidst his transfer standoff.
The striker has repeatedly told the Newcastle Chiefs he wants to leave the club and join Liverpool. The summer transfer window closes at 7pm on Mondays.
Newcastle is not planning to sell Isaac, and boss Eddie Howe hopes he will be reintegrated into the Magpie team. The 25-year-old is trained alone for most of the summer and lacks match fitness.
However, Thomasson included Isaac in his 23-man squad for two Sweden World Cup qualifiers. Scandinavians appear in Slovenia (September 5) and Kosovo (September 8).
On Thursday, Thomason spoke about Isaac’s situation at a press conference, warning that Isaac would rust if he signed Liverpool as the Premier League champion. “Can he play 90 minutes? Of course not. Not at all,” the Swedish manager told reporters.

“Alex is a very professional player, a strong character and he’s worked so hard. He’s a game changer,” added Thomason. “I told him a few times. Mentally, he’s strong. Of course, he said he’ll stay between us.
He also said of the Saga: “It’s very difficult to give a clear opinion on the situation. I don’t know what happened at the club. When there’s no big picture, I have to be very careful about rushing and coming to a conclusion. He’s smart enough and smarter than me.”

Howe spoke to Isaac’s situation after Newcastle lost 3-2 to Liverpool on Monday night. “I don’t know where it stands at this moment,” admitted the magpie boss.
“The ideal from Newcastle’s point of view is that we want to clarify, we want to move forward. We want to change the story. We’re the beginning of this season, we need to try to get results and focus on what we can control.
“Alex’s quality would have made a difference between the two games. I’m not going to deny that. But I said that even if every part of the team doesn’t work well, the team works well and performance doesn’t happen.”
