Jamie Vardy has linked to several clubs as a free agent in the summer transfer window – the 38-year-old striker has finally decided to move to Italy
Jamie Birdie reportedly declined the opportunity to reunite Leicester at Celtic in support of her move to Italy. The 38-year-old Vardy has not had a club and has linked to many since leaving Leicester at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
The veteran striker scored 200 goals in 500 games for the Fox, and his experience was in high demand during the summer transfer period. Everton, Celtic and Rangers are among the teams that connect him, but it’s Cremonese who appears to have won the race.
According to a report from Italy, the newly promoted Serie a Side has agreed to terms surrounding Valdi’s free transfer. Vardy is expected to fly to Cremona, south of Milan, and complete the surprising move in the coming days.
He had previously linked to Napoli, who was looking for a replacement for the injured Romell Lukaku, but will find Serie a Minnow instead. Cremonese came out through the playoffs from Serie B. There he spent two seasons and launched his campaign with a 2-1 victory over AC Milan at Sanshiro over the weekend.

His decision comes after a strong connection to the move to Celtic, managed by former Leicester boss Brendan Rogers and managed by former Fox goalkeeper Casper Schmeuchel. “Listen, I won’t talk about individual players,” Rogers said when asked about the possibility of signing Vardy.
“Of course I worked really well with Jamie. He was great for me in my time at Leicester. But a lot of names came up. I won’t reveal either way.”
Schmeichel also sounded enthusiastic about his reunion in Glasgow. “Jamie is an incredible striker who thinks that any team will be better,” he said.
“But I’m not telling him about it. No. I really don’t know what his thoughts will be, what the club thinks. But when I played with him in Leicester, he was an incredible guy and an incredible striker.”
Vardy is also strongly linked to the move to Wrexham, where two of his former teammates have ended. Goalkeeper Danny Ward and defender Connor Cody went straight to the newly declared starting lineup for the Championship side.
There were also rumors of a move to MLS after his wife, Rebekah Vardy, promoted speculation after sharing a snap of her children on InterMiami kit on social media.
