England boss Thomas Tuschel apologized to Jude Bellingham and said “there is no hidden agenda” when describing some of his attitudes on the field as “repulsion.” Star’s Edge, 22, promoted the relentless rise of the club and country, but also led to questions about his temperament.

Tuchel revealed in an interview that the day after a friendly 3-1 defeat to Senegal in June, he loved Bellingham’s “fire” but his mother found some of the “repulsion” of the midfielder’s attitude on the field. The German coach’s comments sparked controversy, with the English boss apologizing to the Real Madrid star. The Real Madrid star is missing the team in September’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia after shoulder surgery.

“I used this word unintentionally to make it very clear,” Tuchel said. “I had no intentions. There was no message. There was no hidden agenda. I fully understand that it was my responsibility to create these headlines.

“I’ve been experiencing it well. I should have known better and should have done it better. I thought I had a little more trust with you guys. I do this in a second language. I did it in the morning after the loss.

“It’s my fault. I used the wrong word. I didn’t want to use this word. I used it. I created the opposite. It’s my fault. Of course I contacted him immediately. Of course, I immediately contacted him.

Bellingham has made 44 appearances for England and has appeared in all four matches since Tuchel took charge.

The English boss was asked if he thought the “repulsive” remarks had an impact on his relationship with Bellingham.

“Now it’s the moment when Jude is focused on this rehabilitation and we’re focused on camp.”
