The 23-year-old was his fifth summer arrival at St. James Park and reported a six-year contract at Tyneside.
Woltemade played the lead role in the UEFA Under 21 European Championship and was the top scorer in the tournament in the German final.
The striker began his career with Welder Bremen, becoming the youngest Bundesliga player ever at the club at the age of 17.
The move to Stuttgart continued last summer, with Ultemade scoring 17 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.
After his arrival, Woltemade told the club’s website:
“Leaving Germany is a big step in my life, but everyone is so welcoming me and it already feels like a family. I have a really good feeling from telling my head coach that this is the perfect place to find my best level.
“I know from watching the stadiums on TV watching games – it looks amazing, and I know the atmosphere is crazy.
Newcastle’s troubled searches with new strikers this summer are well documented following the unfortunate pursuits of Hugo Ekitique and Benjamin Sesco, who joined Liverpool and Manchester United, respectively.
Woltemade was linked to a move to Bayern Munich for much of the summer, but his next step is now to the Premier League.
Speaking about the new arrival, manager Eddie Howe added:
“He is strong in many areas – he has excellent technical capabilities and has proven to be a real threat in one of Europe’s top leagues. But he is still an age where there is plenty of room to grow here.
“Nick is also a great character and I’m really happy to have him in the group.”
