He continued: “We know the difference in pitch, the financial perspective, the size, and all of that. They are on another planet. But we know what we can do, so I think we showed it. The boys were outstanding.

“After what happened with us last week, the controversy in the game with Man United, all the decisions with VAR that people don’t understand. One goes in one direction, the other goes in a different direction. For the opposition, it decides in a different way for us.

“We’re always here to learn and get players to understand things, but without direction it’s almost impossible to make them feel unbalanced in the end.”

Fulham brought the game back to life midway through the first half.

Fulham’s boss attempts to slow himself down and says he will “say nothing more” in fear of being punished, but at the end of the first half he openly reveals his interactions with the judge.
