Chelsea signed Manchester United’s Argentine international winger Alejandro Garnacho in 2032 on a seven-year contract.

The 21-year-old left Old Trafford five years later in Manchester, where he competed in 144 seniors, scoring 26 goals and winning the FA Cup and EFL Cup titles.

He was Chelsea’s ninth signing in a busy summer, and they were world champions in the newly expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the US.

“It’s special to see the Club World Cup and be a part of the World Championship. We are the best team in the world. It’s amazing and I’m so happy to be here.”

Garnacho reportedly was told he was surplus in the requirements at the end of Manchester United’s difficult 2024/25 season.

The eight-inning Argentine International scored 11 goals in 58 games last year, earning 10 assists for the Red Devils, but it was the season that he lost his domestic rival Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final, falling to a 15th place Premier League finish.

He will be the latest recruit for Stamford Bridge’s fierce summer in and outs.

Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Estevao, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez were also brought in during the offseason to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s team.

However, injury to Dellup during Saturday’s victory at Fulham caused more transfer activity prospects before the windows closed on Monday.

Heading in the other direction was a series of stars such as Noni Madueke, Christopher Nukank and Joa Felix when the Londoners were subjected to the team revolution.

Chelsea launched a new campaign strongly, starting three Premier League matches on international breaks to score seven points.

Sequential victories over West Ham and Fulham came after a draw with Crystal Palace on the first day.

Pedro wasn’t worried about the penalty review – “I knew my hands were close to my body.”
