Graham Potter’s pressure rises after the Hammer sits at the bottom two weeks after the Premier League season, and West Ham suffers a fierce defeat to Chelsea on Friday
Graham Potter’s job at West Ham is safe for now, but the former Brighton boss will need to improve his results immediately if he wants to remain in his role at London Stadium.
The poor start of Hammer’s season continued as he was attacked 5-1 by Chelsea on Friday night. Despite taking the lead, the Bruce quickly controlled the game and did a light job for West Ham with the remaining 10 minutes almost emptying the stadium.
Potter only arrived in January to replace Julen Lopetegui, and has yet to exist in his role for a year. However, West Ham has been leaning as much as possible the relegation candidates he has been admitted eight times in the first two games of the season.
They launched their campaign with a 3-0 hammer at newly promoted Sunderland, and the heat is rising in Potter, who has only won five of the games he is in charge of. It gives him a win rate just over 23.
Daily Mail reports that he will be in charge of this week’s Carabao Cup match against the wolves, then in charge of Premier League Nottingham Forest, but the more damaging outcome could force the board to consider acting.

“Of course, I was incredibly disappointed in the end. I got a good start, a great goal, acknowledged a cheap goal, and probably set the tone for the evening.
Potter endures annoying summer with one of the team’s main offenses, Mohamed Kudus, and is heading towards Tottenham. Jean-Clair Todibo was their main summer signature, but he was loaned out at the club last year.
The Hammer boss refused to be attracted to the need for a new face in the final week of the transfer window, and instead emphasized the need for them to be much more robust. “We’re always looking, but it’s more fundamental than that. It has to make it difficult for teams to score against us,” he said.
West Ham has been on top flight since his promotion in 2012 by the playoffs. Just two years ago they won a conference league title, but they struggle to build on their success.
