Tottenham manager Thomas Frank responded to Everach Eze snub the club and instead signing rival Arsenal on a £67.5 million move.
Thomas Frank fired a less subtle message with Ebeki Eze after snuggling Tottenham to join Arsenal. Eze is poised to sign Arsenal from Crystal Palace after the Gunners hijacked the Spurs’ move at the final moments.
The Spurs have been discussing with the palace for a while over the deal for the 27-year-old midfielder. But Eze, a boyish Arsenal fan and former member of their academy, always preferred to join Mikel Arteta’s side.
So there was only one outcome when Arsenal returned to the fight on Wednesday and revealed he was willing to meet the palace asking price and the £7.5 million price with the potential add-on. Eze will face Fredrikstad from the first game of the Palace Conference League playoffs on Thursday and will now be receiving medical care with Arsenal.
His snub came as a major blow to the Spurs, desperate for creative reinforcements after James Madison suffered a serious knee injury. However, during a pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Manchester City, Frank tried to deceive the importance of Eze’s decision.

“Unless they’re at our great club, I won’t talk about certain players,” he said. “There were a lot of rumors that included players who linked when they thought it was interesting because there were nothing. There were a lot of links and lots of links in the future.
“In general, speaking in general, players who don’t want to come to this club and don’t want to wear this great badge. We don’t want them here. We’re sure the fans feel the same way.”
Without Madison and Dejan Crucevsky, the Spurs understand that Miller Football can rely on Monaco midfielder Magnes Acriucée as their next target. They just missed Eze and Morgan Gibbs White.
“Of course you need to do everything you can,” Frank added about the transfer. “We have six excellent front players who are very competitive. Krucevsky will probably return with Madison this season in the long term, and I’m sure he’ll also sign the player before the end of the window.”
Richarrison scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Burnley last weekend, and after it was proposed, Frank reassured fans of his status with the team after suggesting that he could move to the palace as part of Eze’s swap.
“Now he’s my first No. 9,” he said. “He scored two top goals. Richie wants to stay. I want to protect him. I didn’t say anything else.
“I think we just played our first game and scored three goals, so I think it was pretty promising. (Mohammed) Kudus has that spark and creativity. I think Matthew can play in different positions.
