Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been selected to the bench in two consecutive matches by Benjamin Sesco after signing the striker for RB Leipzig earlier this summer.
Andy Gray denounced Reuben Amorim’s decision to start Benjamin Sesco on the bench for Manchester United’s Fulham trip.
United headed to the summer transfer window in search of a new no 9 after both Rasmus Hozilund and Joshua Zilky struggled with goals last season and paid a big buck to take Sesco to Old Trafford. However, the 22-year-old Slovenia International has eased into life in the Premier League, leaving the bench with Arsenal last week, and on Sunday they ended up in a 1-1 draw with United and Fulham.
Mason Mount began the game with Matthews Kuña and Brian Mbeumo on offense. However, Cunha and Mbeumo were pushed straight into the team after their big money moves, but Amorim takes a different approach with Sesko.
“I don’t understand that. I was surprised,” he told Bein Sports. “I moved to the club for a lot of money in my career and trusted me. It didn’t take three or four weeks to understand the team.

“Sesco is an international footballer and played in the Bundesliga. He costs over £70 million. Are you telling the Manchester United team that they can’t get ahead of the centre?
“If you’re a united fan, you want Sesco with Mbeumo and Kuña. He spent the preseason in Germany, he’s healthy and ready.
Owen Hargreaves, meanwhile, fears that signing Sesco doesn’t necessarily solve United’s problems up front. The former Manchester United midfielder also believes the goalkeeper status could be a problem after Altai Bayindeal began his Fulham match before Andre Onana, who was removed from the team that lost to Arsenal last weekend.
“I love Mbeumo. I love Cunya, Bruno played a bad game today, but my biggest worry is that the goalkeeper situation is not being addressed and the striker situation isn’t being addressed,” Hargreaves told Premier League productions.
“I’ve never seen a team win without a top player in these two positions. Maybe they’re going to deal with it next week. But goalkeeper, striker, he has to deal with it.
“The two behind Mbeumo and Cunha are great, but the top and the ones at the back need to be addressed as soon as possible. You need to look at the fixtures.
