The FIFA club’s World Cup winner was midway through the four-match London Derby in the league and confirmed that Palmer was still suffering from the effects of a gro caliber injury at the start of Maresca’s press conference before the weekend.
Palmer said he is not part of a recent success team against Crosstown’s rivals, and Maresca said he hopes the team will continue to manage without the talisman who scored 18 goals last season.
He said: “When Cole isn’t in the game, we need to find a different solution. Hopefully we can do the same tomorrow.”
Palmer was removed from Thomas Tuschel’s team for an upcoming international break, and Maresca couldn’t provide details on when he’ll return to the first team’s actions.
The Italian also added that Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiasil were coming through injuries, but he thought he would not return until the internationals arrived.
He continued: “Cole, we need to see every day. Romeo and Benoit, I don’t think they’ll come back after an international break, but they’ll be closer.
“I’ve spoken with Thomas a few times. That’s Thomas’ decision. He’s not available tomorrow so it’s very normal to show that he has some issues.”
