Crystal Palace is facing difficult situations for Mark Guech Otain, who continues to play for the club during negotiations to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window
Liverpool was told they could not sign Mark Guech next week after Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner stepped into an irritating situation.
Palace played the first match of the Conference League playoffs against Fredrikstad on Thursday night without Ebeki Eze departing to join Arsenal. The palace defeated the Norwegian side 1-0, with Guech captaining the side, but Eze’s slow retreat – he’s moving to Arsenal at 67.5 million pounds in the coming days – was distracted.
Guehi played both palace matches this season, but continues to discuss his move to Liverpool during the summer transfer period, which closes on September 1st.
It’s an annoying situation for Glasner, who openly expressed his disappointment to his team after only nine of the 12 permitted alternatives on Thursday. “We have to do this, especially for the second round,” Glasner told Channel 5 when asked if the palace would hold Gehi. “The injured player will come back and no one can register, so we have to keep him.

“We’ve put Chris Richards and Ty Mitchell, who are already having small issues, and we have no choice but to keep the mark for these games. He knows that, everyone knows.
The Palace travels to Norway for Game 2 of the playoffs on Thursday, August 28th, then leaves the three-day window for Guehi to join Liverpool. The negotiations are still, with the palace demanding £45 million from the captain, and Liverpool will not exceed £35 million.
“If Mark (guehi) leaves, I’ll try the boots because I was in the centre. We have to act. It’s the future of Crystal Palace and we need to add numbers,” added Glasner.
“We are very late to find replacements. I think we can do much better than us. That’s not the best way to start the season. I think we’re below the edge.”
While Glasner clearly wants to keep his centre-back, Palace President Steve Parish has a more realistic approach. “If Mark wants to sign a new contract, he can stay! It’s a difficult situation. Everyone has to sell players to comply with the rules. That’s a situation that we’ll have to watch over the next 11 days.”
With Eze not at Selhurst Park, attention was paid to Gehhi, who was chasing him over the pitch as he praised the fans after a full-time whi. “There are other players you know,” he said with a smile and over his shoulder.
Parish negotiated Eze’s exit with Arsenal, saying, “It’s what it is, we have to move into the past. He was great for the club. We love what he did, what he achieved and are pleased that he can continue to achieve the other ambitions he has.
“The king is dead, he lives the king for a long time and we have to get through it. We have to find other players to bring in other players who can support the team and the rest of Oliver.
“We bring players in. It’s about finding the right one. It’s difficult to trade such players. It’s a little thinner anyway. You spend money and use yourself to make yourself.
