Reports say Arsenal forward Kai Herberts will undergo surgery after suffering a knee injury earlier this month. The former Chelsea man has struggled with recent injuries after missing out on the second half of last season due to hamstring issues. Mikel Merino was forced to represent him as a makeshift striker in Germany’s absence.
Last week, when he was nowhere to be seen during an open training session, it was revealed that Hubert had suffered a new injury. He was exposed to further Tests and there was no distinction in Arsenal’s big win over Leeds United over the weekend. Now he has been reported to have surgery on his lap and be sidelined for a while.
Arsenal’s medical team determined that surgery would be the best course of action, according to Athletic. The report says Havertz is expected to undergo minor procedures and miss out on “single-digit weeks.”
That comes after Mikel Arteta says that “more tests” are needed to determine the extent of the problem and the length of his absence.
“Mentally, he’s in a good space,” the Arsenal boss added. “He’s a really strong boy and is extremely devoted. He had an incredible recovery from hamstring surgery (last season).”
“It was his first experience because he had never been injured before. Now he has a set-off.
Viktor Gyokeres remains the only appropriate and available striker on Arsenal’s current team. Gabriel Jesus is still recovering from a serious knee ligament injury and is not expected to return for quite some time.
Leandro Trossard has played in advance when he needs to be a substitute in the past and will be able to play that role against Liverpool this weekend. Gyoker almost certainly starts the match as the favourites of early Premier League titles face off head-on.
Martin Odegard is suspected of another injury to gunner after hurting the shoulder against Leeds. Bukayosaka also faces competition with the right time for Liverpool match, suffering hamstring issues with the same fixture.
