The situation for Alexander Isaac in Newcastle has not been resolved as the end of the summer transfer window is in sight, but Liverpool has not given up on his hopes of signing him
Arne Slot suggests that Liverpool can still pursue a deal with Newcastle striker Alexander Isaac on the last day of his summer transfer period. Isaac is eager to leave the Magpie for Liverpool – and it appears he can still get his wish.
The Swedish striker told Newcastle in late July that he wanted to leave the club, but Liverpool’s £110 million opening offer was rejected. He has been stuck at Limbo ever since, hoping that he will return with another offer the Reds cannot refuse, refusing to play for the Magpie.
Isak accused his employers of breaking his promise to exit with Saga’s massive escalation earlier this week. And with a fateful twist, the two clubs will meet in the Premier League at St James Park on Monday night.
Liverpool has already spent more than £300 million on signing this summer, continuing to negotiate with Crystal Palace beyond Mark Guech. Slot sold Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz this summer after the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, suggesting that ISAK’s deal could still be made.

Asked if it was a busy end to Liverpool’s windows, Slot told a pre-match press conference:
“I say two players in each position are ideal, but sometimes it’s often less, so you’re not disappointed with players who are disappointed. I’m happy with the team.
“But that has to be everything we want: the right transfer fee, the right position, and the players want to come to us.”
Liverpool has two of these conditions, with the need for the striker to be clear and Isaac eager to switch. However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle will be able to agree to the correct relocation fees.
Magpies’ statement in response to Isak’s statement suggested that it would be sold at a reasonable price, which is thought to be around £150 million. “As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always consider the greatest interests of Newcastle United, our team and our supporters in every decision. It is clear that the terms of sale have not occurred this summer.
In the meantime, the two clubs will need to focus on playing each other on Monday. “The main thing we have to prepare is their mid-way line,” Slot said. “I don’t think Isak has played with anything he’s read in the media.
“But they still have Anthony Gordon, who is only nine years old. They still have Anthony Elanga as the right wing and Harvey Burns from the left, which is the Premier League.
