Cobby Mineu could consider leaving Manchester United this summer after beating the pecking order under Reuben Amorim. A graduate of Red Devils Academy, Mineau has confirmed that she has limited options this season.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been named twice on the bench this season, but hasn’t played in a minute. And now it appears that a few minutes of shortage could force young people to see elsewhere.

According to Talksport, Mainoo will consider quitting Old Trafford if United receives an acceptance offer for his services. Chelsea was previously linked to a dive, but the midfielder himself reportedly accepts the prospect of moving abroad.

Mainoo has less than two years left on his contract with United. The Red Devils chief was thought to be keen to tie him down to a new contract, but there remains a big gap in his salary expectations.

Mainoo reportedly was looking for around £150,000 per week to sign a new deal, an amount that is impossible for United at the current time. If Mainoo goes on, the fees received by the club will be considered pure profit in the PSR calculations for next year’s fiscal year.

Asked why he left Mine on the bench against Fulham, United boss Amorim revealed that the young man is currently competing with Captain Bruno Fernandez. He said: “He’s fighting for Bruno now for his position.

“And then I’m going to change two midfielders. I wanted to score goals so I did Mason Mount (play). When it changed, I felt that the team needed to go back to one of the midfielders near Bruno.

“So he (Mine) needs to fight for his position with Bruno. (It’s) to be at Manchester United. (Sometimes) he’s going to play with Bruno.

Meanwhile, United icon Gary Neville has not ruled out the prospect of Mineo falling further down the hierarchy in the near future. “In the middle of the middle, they have to do business now,” he said on Gary Neville’s podcast.

“I was hoping that Mine could step up and become that person, but at this moment it’s clear that Reuben Amorim doesn’t have him.

“It’s going to be a problem, so it means they have to sort things out. When the front 3 is a little higher and the back 5 is pushed back a little, the two there really get exposed.

“I think Bruno Fernandez is there, I think he has to sort it out. I think Man United has to see him get goalkeeper and get a midfield player in the middle.”
