Real Madrid star Rodrigo was still able to complete his late move to the Premier League in the end of his transfer period after a difficult start to the season under Xabi Alonso

Liverpool’s target Rodrigo was furious after being replaced over the weekend as his future in Real Madrid became more uncertain. The Brazilian winger has turned his eyes to the Premier League club clutch in the final week of his transfer period.

Champion Liverpool and Manchester City were two people linked to him. Speculation over the move has risen following the start of the stud into the season under Xabi Alonso.

He was left on the bench for their opening La Liga game and when he started in his second match against Real Oviedo, it certainly didn’t go to plan. Rodrigo lasted more than an hour before taking off in favor of his fellow countryman Vinicius Jr.

And he was far from his retreat as the cameras got him angry at defender Edder’s Militau on the bench and picked him up violently before he threw the towel in frustration. To make matters worse, his exit was justified by Vinicius teeing up Kylian Mbappe for goal, and the scoresheet himself also rode himself late to ensure a 3-0 success.

Speaking after the game, Real Boss Alonso addressed Rodrigo’s performance. He said: “He had a good game. On the left he was also drifting out there, Alvaro (Carrera), Alda (Garra) and Killian (Mbappe). He had some shots.

Asked about the future of the Brazilian winger, he said, “I liked what I saw. Last week we needed everyone and Rodrigo is another of the team.”

Alonso’s latest stance against Rodrigo comes after confirming that the Brazilians are not on the exit crisis from the club despite not playing for a minute in Real Madrid’s season opening game.

Speaking at the time, he said: “Rodrigo? Nothing was happening. I was of course dependent on Rodrigo. It was just a game, this was my decision.”

Rodrigo, 24, joined Real Madrid from Brazilian Santos in 2019, making 271 appearances for the Spanish Giants and scoring 68 times. During that time, he has supported the club’s hosts of three LA La Liga titles, two Champions League crowns, Copa del Rey and other trophies.

Rodrigo has remained under three years on his current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu after writing fresh terms in 2023. Real Madrid is active this weekend as Mallorca and Alonso were able to provide fresh insight into Rodrigo’s future with his choices.
